Mary Catherine Camery (b. April 18, 1841, d. December 13, 1935)
Mary Catherine Camery (daughter of Christian C. Camery and Nancy Messick) was born April 18, 1841 in Mount Vernon, Knox Co., Ohio, and died December 13, 1935 in Milo Twp, Bureau Co., Illinois. She married Lafayette Applen on December 22, 1867 in her parents home in Saratoga Twp, Marshall Co., Illinois.

The 1916 Plat book has Mary Catherine Camery Applen owning 15 acres near school and cemetery in Milo Township.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mary Camery Applen was blind in her later years. Before she died she had a will written for her on a brown paper bag; she signed it; Art Marsh witnessed it and it was put away in her old Bible. It stated that the 15 acres of land owned by the family was to stay in the family as long as there was an Applen boy living. The story is that - when Mary Catherine died, Annie and Etta's daughter, Pearl, did away with the will. When Annie died, the land was sold and the money split between Walter and Etta's children, Pearl and Mable. ("Annie = Nancy Ann Applen) per June Applen
