Lifelong School Teacher Miss Camery was the 6th of eight children of the late Isaac W. and Ellen M. (Kellogg) Camery, and was born at their farm in Whitefield township on June 13, 1878. She attended the rural schools of that community and continued her education in the Henry high school, being a graduate in 1896. She then attended Illinois State Normal university at Normal, Ill, and upon recieving her teacher's certificate, began a lifelong career of teaching school.
Her first position was at Havanna, Ill. Later, for a few years, she taught school in Racine, Wis., and following that, in the Chicago public school system, until her retirement in 1941. She the returned to Henry, and has made her home here since, with a niece Miss May Ebaugh.
Surviving are: one sister, now the last living member of the Isaac Camery family, Mrs. John Morse of Henry: several nieces and nephews, and other more distant relatives, both in this area and some others, particularily California and Texas.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents many years ago, were her two brothers and four sisters: Justin, in early childhood while the family lived in the Sugar Grove community in Whitefield; Kate (Mrs. Frank) Ebaugh; Harry W., about 7 years ago in California, Ellen M., in infancy; Ida; and Vera (Mrs. Charles) German, some years ago at Hearne, Texas.
Miss Camery became a member of the Episcopal church in her youth, and maintained a loyal and active interest in it until ill health made it impossible for her to continue attendance at its services. She had been a member of St. John's church in Henry since returning to this community about 23 years ago.
A number of memorials given in her memory were an eloquent testimony to the esteem in which she was held by many of her friends and relatives here and elsewhere.
