My research begins in 1812 with Joseph J. Retherford of Galia County, Ohio. He married Mary Jane Scott in Ross County, Ohio in 1837 and had 8 children. Most of the early family members are buried in Friends Cemetery,Londonderry; Little Mound, Richmond Dale and Schooley Cemetery at Schooley Station; all located in Ross County, Ohio. Ross County court records and other data show the name as Retherford as well as Rutherford.
I am having difficulty tacing Joseph and Mary Jane back to their
origins but suspect there may be links to Virginia.
Any information would be helpful and I am willing to share.
