The REYNOLDS - SLADE Family Tree
Late in 2001, I first acted on a life long interest in my Family Ancestry, researching and publishing the first edition of The Family Tree of the REYNOLDS & SLADE surnames.
The REYNOLDS Family Recently, I completed research that took this surname back an three additional generations, to my great-great-great grandfather. John (S.) Reynolds, (b 1798 est.) of Jackson County, Georgia [?]. Early on in my research I had only identified my great-grandfather, Dilmus Francis Reynolds (b.1860). From Dilmus, details emerged for my great-great grandfather, James H. Reynolds (b. 1846 again in Jackson County, Georgia).
The SLADE Family Early research was limited to my grandfather, John Gordon Slade from Pike or Taylor County, Georgia. John Gordon Slade moved to Alabama in 1929 seeking work and died in 1939 in Gadsden, Alabama. After 1939 my grandmother didn't keep in close contact with her husband's family. However in 2008 or 2009, I received a call from a Slade cousin in Oklahoma who was working on a book of the Slade Family from Georgia. My cousin was looking for information about John Gordon Slade, which he had recently run across from my published family tree. This information about John Gordon was the last piece in a bigger puzzle and database that he had been working on for decades. I have even travelled to the cemetery in Meansville, Georgia where several generations of my ancestors are laid to rest. Much of my cousin’s research can be found at: http://www.sladegenealogy.net/branches.htm. My cousin published his findings and research about the Slade family, all originating from Samuel Slade of Southampton County, Virginia. Samuel Slade of Southhampton [sic], Virginia and His Descendants was published 2009 by James L. Slade.
