Albert H. Mapes, 78 of 847 S. Raymond Rd. , Died Monday night in a Battle Creek Hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday. He had been under a physician's care and in falling health for the past three months. He was born August 27, 1888 in Climax, the son of James and Carrie (Potter) Mapes. He was married to Etta M. Hoyer in Battle Creek June 16, 1909. He is survived by his wife and daughter, Mrs. Darwin A (Marjorie) Ruffner of 439 Pleasant View Dr. and two sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Grace) Reid of Detroit and Mrs. Calvin (Eva) Boyd of 74 S. Woodrow Ave.
Mr Mapes retired from the Kellogg Co. when he was 72 years old after 33 years employment with the company. His last job was as a mail car driver and depositor of company money in downtown banks. He was a member of the Kellogg 25 year club. Before his employment with the Kellogg Co. he had been employed for 10 years by Post Division, General Foods Corp. Mr. Mapes was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Climax Methodist Church, Bedford Lodge, F and AM and the Bedford Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Services were held Thursday, PM at the Henry Funeral Home, Battle Creek with the Rev. Ernest Mac Donald , of the First Methodist Church officiating. Internment in Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax, Michigan.
