Alonzo Sherman (b. 1824, d. 1908)

Alonzo Sherman (son of John Wesley Sherman and Mila Eldred) was born 1824 in New York, and died 1908 in Allegan, Michigan Clyde twp. He married Sarah Ann Hill, daughter of Adam Hill and Nancy Hill.

Alonzo Sherman possibly owned a saw mill in Galesburg,Mi. Not confirmed at this time.
Per History of Allegan and Barry Counties Mi. Alonzo Sherman and Ezra L Davis came to Clyde Twp, Allegan Co. to set up a saw mill,and opened a general store and the community was know as Sherman. Sherman Post Office in Mi. This placed was called Brovo,Mi in 1872, when the post office was established.(Mi Place Names by Romig. Pg75,542,1880 History of Allegan and Barry Michigan.
Bravo,Mi Post Office a name indicating the Spirit of these Pioneers in Starting a Village in the Woods, and gradually the village took the same name.
