I began my research in 1997 of my father's family so that I could compile an assortment of data for him. However, once I got started I just kept digging. First on my family then some on my husbands. I feel that not only are you learning of your background, but you also begin to know your community how it was settled and who settled in your area.
I spent alot of hours at the libraries in my area. Traveled to cemeteries and courthouses. I spent so much time at the library that some people thought I worked there. Genealogy is like a chocolate bar. The more you nibble at it the more you want. I don't have as much time as I used to as I went back to work in 1999. So I think it is about time for me to share my information. On the Rhoden (Cook, Borders, Warnock, Freguson, Stephens, Davis....), on the Vallance side (Davisson, Stapleton, Stephens, Collins, Fields, Myers, Salyers, Burton, White.....).As I sit here and write this info I know there are more than 5000 names in my files.
Reunion: August 3rd 2002 Rhoden's, at Long's Retreat in Pike County Ohio.
