The RHUDEs (spelled ROOD, RUDD, RUDE, RHUDE) have been in Indiana for nearly 200 years. I'm a descendant of JOHN RUDE who with his wife MARTHA moved from Pennsylvania through Ohio to Indiana in the early 1800s. Their children--ISRAEL, BARZILLA, HANNAH, DELINDA and JOHN--were born in Pennsylvania but most of the family, minus John Sr., were established in Scott or Washington Counties, Indiana, by the late 1820s.
Meanwhile a BARZILLA, NOAH, and SAMUEL RUDE were in Knox County, Ohio, and show up on tax rolls there throughout the 1820s and early 1830s. Some of the same names also appear in Indiana but the ages would suggest they are not the same. I would assume that Barzilla in Ohio might be a cousin to my Hoosier ancestor named John who seems to be one of the earliest Rudes in Indiana. Unfortunately, he died or was killed before or soon after his arrival in Indiana.
My goal is to be able to connect the Indiana Rudes with the Ohio Rudes in the early 19th Century.
