Note for John Symes,Sr. John Symes, Sr. matriculated at Exeter College,Oxford Feb 2 1586, with his brother Henry on 23 Feb. 1588,B.A. 9 July 1591. He was a member of Somerset Parliament and High Sheriff. He died in 1661 and was buried at Frampton Cottrell Church, County Gloucester. WFT Vol 3,#6273. John Symes was enumerated in the Freeman List of Massachusetts Colony in 1658. A monument to his memory was erected in the church of Bishop Hull that read "GREATLY RENOUND FOR WISDOM, JUSTICE, INTEGRITY AND SOBRIETY." WFT v0l 15, 0378.[JohnSymesv67t1695.ftw]
