Riddick-Biggers Blackstarz Connection

The Riddick-Biggers Blackstarz Connection

My Father:Thomas Jefferson Riddick
My Mother:Janet Pauline Biggers Riddick

I am just beginnning to research my family. It is something that I have planned to do for several years. I have collected a great deal of information over the years and it needs organization.
My ten year old grandson, Michael-Thomas Arkell Riddick, has been given the assignment of preparing his family tree as part of his Civil War Project for his Social Studies class. Since I already have enough information to get him started he is well on his way.
My grandson's assignment is just the impetus that I need to really work on the history of my family. I have been able to record the names of my paternal great-grandparents, their places of birth and those of my maternal great-grandparents.
I hope to leave my family history as my legacy to my grandchildren.
Neither side of my family has done much in the way of reunions. The only reunions that I am aware of was sponsored by my maternal grandfather's half brothers (Mills). The reunions were not well attended. The family members attending were those directly related to them and who live in the local area.
Most of or nearly all of the Biggers family did not know until recently just how/why the different last names. The Biggers twins (both male) are, as far as we know, the younger brothers of the Mills. The twins were half Black American and half Caucasian. All of them have the same mother whose name we know was Sarah Mason.
Sarah Mason, as far as we know, was born in Clover-York County, SC. We do not know if she was married to Mills, Mason, or Biggers.
My father, Thomas Jefferson Riddick, was born in Hertford-Perquimans County, NC. All of my ancestors on both my maternal and paternal sides of his family were born in the same area.
My grandmother, Ella Overton Riddick, was directly descended from the Native-Americans local to that area. Her parents were Kizar Wright Overton and Nixon Overton. Ella married Walter Riddick who was the son of Hannah Riddick and Jason(we believe his last name to be Riddick).
