Growing up I had very little knowledge of my family history. I have always wanted to learn more about my family. In the middle of 1999 I started my journey. After a few trips to the library I found what I needed. Due to working odd hours I didn't have time for the research. Over the next few years I found very litte information and came to a stand still.
About six months ago in December of 2002 my lovely wife Malissa and I had a beautiful little girl. She gave me the boost I needed. I recently changed careers and have more time to dedicate to my hobby. I want to pass our family history on to my daughter. Maybe someday she will take an interest and be able to help me. As of now I have traced the family back as far as 1850 on my mothers side. I am not having much luck with my fathers side, only back to 1895. My wife's family has been very helpful. My mother-in-law, Elaine made a call to Grandma Martha and suddenly I had names back to the 1860s. On a resent trip to Oklahoma I spoke to my wife's grandmother for a few hours and had names and photographs back to the mid 1830s. I will continue my research because I am looking forward to passing it on to everyone, especially my daughter.
