I am the daughter of Herman Floyd Borcherding and Rosa Lee Reeves Borcherding. My name is Jamaica Jeanne Borcherding Crume
Riddles. Our family has lived in Oklahoma since before my parents were married on January 11, 1923 in Nicoma, Montague Co., Tx. I have three brothers, Billy Reeves Borcherding, H.F. Borcherding and Bobby Dale Borcherding, who all live in Oklahoma. We had reunions or family get togethers most holidays and in between when my parents were living. Also my mother's brothers and sisters would get together frequently. I have been basically researching, with no success at all, of information on my great grandparents, Henry Borcherding and Mary Matilda Skiles. Matilda Skiles' father was Hezekiah M. Skyles and her mother was Ruthy Jennings. They lived in Tn and Id. Matilda was born 30 Dec 1842 and died 24 Oct 1887. I have no information about Henry Borcherding except heresay handed down, that he came to America at the age of 14 alone, or at the age of 12 with his mother, a brother and a sister. I don't have any names for these. I have been unable to find him on any immigration lists from 1845-1850 which would cover this time. According to the census, he would be born around 1835.
