My grandfather, John Courtney, and my grandmother Frances Fairgreave, lived in the Tranent/Macmerry region of East Lothian in Scotland.
They had five daughters, Margaret, Henrietta, Patricia, Frances and Doreen.
Margaret married David Welsh and had three children, Gordon, Cameron (died in a car accident) and Gillian (died of a brain tumor). They have always lived in Macmerry. Henrietta (Etta) married Charles (Chid) Drummond (died in 1990s) and they had two boys Graham and Colin. They have always lived in Ormiston. Patricia married Ronald Willox and had two boys, Kenneth and Ian. They live in Haddington but spent a few years in Johannesburg, South Africa, but moved back to Scotland in 70s. Frances married Archibald Davidson and had Alan and I, Diane, but later divorced and married a Greek called George Geragotellis (later changed to Tellis) and had another son, John. Originally lived in Musselburgh but later in Durban, Newcastle and Johannesburg South Africa since 1981. Doreen married Archibald Mack and had Douglas and Kirsty. They have alwasy lived in Tranent. I would like to trace the Courtney and Fairgreave side of my family tree back to see where we came from and because i am interested in history. I know that my grandfather had Irish ancestory but that is about it and both my grandfather and mother both came from large (14+) families. My grandfather saw action in WW2 and one of my uncles fought in a war in South Africa. Am going to update this page whenever i start getting more dates and names but as of today 24/5/01 this is all i have.
