About Our Family Research

Pioneer ancestors came from England, France, Ireland during the 1800's to settle in our then primative country. Two 'White' brothers, William and Frances, arrived in Northland as Missionaries in the Methodist Church. We held an 'Edge' Re-Union in Whangarei where we met a lot of relations we never knew existed, then 4 years later a 'Culpan' re-union was held in Auckland. I am having trouble researching the Morgan line from gggGrandfather, William Morgan who settled here from Sydney or Tasmania. His wife, Eliza Jane Longhurst apparently followed him here from Sydney, leaving her husband Fredrick Essenhigh and four children. They married and had 8 children together. They settled outside Whangarei, where William was the first Proprioter of the Poroti Hotel. My mother was part Maori and lived at Poroti and 4 generations after William - married one of his descendants.
