Jack Otha Washington Riffle was born in Letart, Mason County, West Virginia May 3, 1908. His father was John Franklin Riffle, born May 21, 1889. His Mother was Icy Carmelia Thornton. He went into the army and was at one time the youngest First Sargent in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Hawaii where he met Margaret Charlotte Caminos of Spanish, Portugese and French descent. They were married there and Jacqueline Caroline and John Leroy were born there. Irvin Franklin was born in Riverside,California, when Jack was transferred and stationed in the Army in California. He was transferred to Orlando, Florida. He was then transferred to Winter Garden, Florida. Shirley Ann was born in Orlando, Florida after the family moved to Winter Garden. He was then sent overseas during WWII and left the family there. After returning home, he was sent to Korea for two years. All the children started to school in Winter Garden. When he retired from the Army, Margaret and the children were already settled there and he liked Florida, so the family was planted there.
Jack's family was from Charleston, and surrounding towns, and Parkersburg area. His Grandfather was George Washington Riffle. His Grandmother was Mary Catherine Rollins.
