Gertrude came to the U.S. at the age of 11 from the Netherlands. Gertrude married Frank Maycroft, one of seven children born to Anthony Maycroft and Mary Wales. The Anthony Maycroft Farm passed to Frank and Gertrude Maycroft in July of 1915. Esta Maycroft was raised on that farm and later married Albert Blackmer. In the 1930's during the depression, times where hard. Esta and Albert moved to the farm when Frank died. This helped with expenses as the farm was almost lost. They purchased the farm in September of 1942. In 1999, this farm was one of 11 Centennial Farms in Ravenna Township. Source: Ravenna Township 150 years 1849-1999
