Amon Riggs (son of John Riggs and Mary Davis) was born April 21, 1748 in Huntingdon Hundred, Queen Caroline Parish, Anne Arundal Co., Maryland, and died March 16, 1822 in Goshen District, Montgomery Co., Maryland. He married Ruth Griffith on December 21, 1769 in Prince Georges Parish, Fredrick, Maryland.

He lived on the planation for about 10 years before he moved to Franklin County. Amon's will is dated 27 November 1818, in it he mentioned his wife and the following children, Henry, John and Charles (deceased). He served as Captain in the Montgomery County Militia. His commission was issued on 26 May 1776 ( Archives of Maryland).
