I am just starting out my family tree it has so far been very difficult. My Great Grandparents Heurik & Hanna Hauser or Hauseir, They gave birth to one son Harold(My grand father) born in 1903 and died in 1978 in Villa's N.J there was only one son from Heurik I am aware of.For some reason in 1906 my grandfather's name was changed from hauser/hauseir to "Riis".I am not sure as to why his name was changed I don't know if it was the sign of the times or maybe even he was placed with the Riis family in Norway where he seemed to spend most of his young life or maybe a FARM NAME.I am not sure when my grandfather came into the United States(Pa) but he was surely in this country in 1930 when he married my Grand Mother Sophia Zukauskas born in 1911 and died in May of 1963. They had no natural children together. However Sophia had a child named Charles(fidell) born Oct 1931 died Nov 1994 out of wedlock before meeting Harold. In 1938 Harold adopted Charles.Sophia had 5 brothers and 2 sisters Stanley,Thomas,Edward,Yule,Alfonse,Helen and Ann all ZUKAUSKAS in the Upper Darby Pa area and all are deceased now except Ann Zukauskas'Kelly residing in the N.J area.If I could just figure out the past jigsaw puzzle then perhaps the rest would be history.Please E-Mail if you might have any information or even any realations to any of the above names.
