I started research into descendants of John Riley and his wife (my gt gt grandparents) 3 years ago. It has come on leaps and bounds since then - I was astonished to find that three of my father's second cousins were also researching the Riley Family!
The main 'gaps' to fill are descendants of the following individuals: Charles Beckwith Riley, Leonard Riley (both sons of Joseph St.Patrick Riley), and Edward Riley(son of George Alfred Riley). All help appreciated - if you think you are a relative, please contact me!
John and Anne had 6 sons: William Bolton Riley (1838-1885), John Riley (1839-1914), Joseph St.Patrick Riley (1842-1897), Henry Walter Riley (1846-1921), Alfred Riley (1848-1928), James Edward Riley (born 1852). Their father spent most of his working life in Manchester, before retiring to Barnes, SW London. Son James emigrated to San Francisco in 1876, Alfred's son Alfred Winton Riley, joined James in SF in 1908, via Canada.
Footnote: I found the instant family tree software very unstable: I should list about 150 people on the tree, of which about 100 born Riley, but I gave up. The few I listed have had one year deducted from their birth and death dates! So pay no attention to it!
