My Ladyman Family History

Updated April 16, 2007

About Our Family Research

I have been researching my family history since 1988.
Our Ladyman family can only be traced as far as 1704/5.
Thomas Ladyman who married Mary Grave in St Kentigerns Church, Crosthwaite, Keswick. The marriage entry states both from this parish. Thomas was the first Ladyman in Crosthwaite Keswick Cumberland.
His grandson John Ladyman was the first recorded pencil maker in the parish records.
We have had several other pencil makers in the family.
Thomas's son Joseph was the architect of the house on Derwent Island as well as several houses in and around Keswick.
I also have an original book written by Samuel Ladyman, pencil maker was one of his occupations.
