Our family has traced its roots to the early 1800's. The patriarch of the US family left the Netherlands in 1886 and settled in NJ. He then moved to western NY and started a second family. Louis was a colorful character so we are searching for any other stay branches of his tree. He came to the US with his 1st wife, Jannigje nee Kasma, and their 2 daughters, Dieuwke and Japke. They had a total of 7 children when he left the family and reappeared in western NYS. He then married again and had a son with his second wife, Ellen Perry. He was 50 at that time. If you can add any information regarding either Louis or Jannigje (known as Jenny), please send it to "rinkermana@msn.com". The main branch of the family is concentrated in the NJ/MD area. I am part of the WNY branch and was unaware of the existence of the original family until 1990. My father, Louis' son from the second marriage, died in 1968 and either did not know of the original family or just kept it a secret from everyone, including my mother. There are plans for annual reunions in July.
