John A. Smith had three brotheres, Robert B., Byrd, and Poindexter; one of them, Byrd never m arried; was a member of Congress (this is not our Byrd). Poindexter was a Baptist minister . - Mary Jane Butts, 21 Apr 1935 - (page123).

Called him Uncle Alec - Matt Smith, Auburn, 18 Aug 1937 - (page 123).
