Tiquosé's search for her Indian ancestor

Updated May 8, 2001

About Our Family Research

My father's generation agrees that their grandmother was half Indian. They don't agree on which nation, or whether her mother or her father was the Indian. Apparently this part of our ancestry was at once time not considered something to be proud of. I feel differently, and would like to honor our unknown ancestor by bringing him or her out of oblivion. I recognize that this will be a difficult search.

My father's grandmother was Mary Alice Lytell, who married George Washington Slonecker. It is her parents that I want to locate.

Note: My name at birth was Janet Ellen Slonecker. My name now, Tiquosé Janet Rivera, is the result of a legal name change at my own request. This should not be taken as a slur on any of my family.
