The Rixon Family Tree Newsletter began in April 1996. The newsletter is now distributed to over 200 family members worldwide.
On 17 May 1998, on the occasion of the 200 year anniversary of James' arrival in Australia we held our first gathering at Campbelltown at which over 300 family members attended to meet new relatives and/or reaquaint with family they had not seen for up to 50 years. It was a happy, relaxed and auspicious day for the gathering of the RIXON clan. The success of the day is still talked about, the distances people travelled and the enthusiasm of everyone to be part of and to assist in making it an overwhelming success.
Joye and Don Walsh worked tirelessly to compile the Books "James Rixon and Amelia Goodwin - More a Forest than a Family Tree", nearly 7,000 names are listed in the book, and the book "The Rixon Settlers, including Apples of Gold in Pictures of Silver" traces the history of the Free Settler Rixons' who arrive in the 1840's.
The books are still available the cost is $68 for "The Rixon Forest" and $25 for "The Rixon Settlers". Please contact Mrs Joye Walsh, 19 Wandella Avenue, Roseville, NSW 2069 AUSTRALIA or email : donwalsh@optusnet.com.au
