I am researching my fathers side of the family.My dads name was James Willard Robinson he was born in Clearwater SC In Sept 1926 but his military records say 1923(?)So he could join the navy early.He served 20+ yrs during WW2 and Korea (they say no birth certificate exists because the doctor that delivered him was killed in an accident that evening?) His mother was born Lessie M Schaffer in SC about 1907.My fathers dad was John R Robinson I have no other info on him but the name Dawkins fits somewhere not sure mom or dads side.Lessie had two sons my dad and my uncle we call "Blackie" given name Erskin Cecil.We just found him in Alabama.We just learned my dads mom married a man name Ernest Williamson of SC and had 2 girls Hilda and Linda who were adopted by ernests brother after Lessie died. (names,dates and locations could be off I'm still learning.)Leesie May's parents were David and Ida Schaffer.Ida Had a daughter from previous marriage Daisey Grubbs.Lessie had siblings.I know very little of my dads side and I am eager to learn more.(My uncle says his gmother? was Cherokee Indian).I know some other names associated with my dad' family. "Cantrell,Hastings,Dawkins,Johnson.I have a picture of my dad next to his moms grave I think in SC about 1955 if anyone recognizes the background.
