Alexander Baxter was born approx 1861, in Aberdeen, Scotland, the son of James Baxter and Jane Pirie. He was my Grandmother's father. When my Grandmother (Jane Willox Pirie Baxter) was almost 3 (1899) her mother, Mary Baxter nee Gray, died (aged 31). Soon after Mary's death, Alexander Baxter fled the family. The extended family took in my Grandmother and her brother, George - and sent a private detective to look for Alexander. He was never found. However, the family believed he had gone to America. My family, would love to know what happened to Alexander Baxter - if indeed he did flee to America or remained in the U.K.
