A Boyer Family of Texas via Mississippi

Updated August 10, 2008

About Our Family Research

My Boyer family started in Collin County, Texas. My grandfather was born there. He had several brothers and sisters. I have learned that his father may have had as many as 3 other wives and a total of 22 children. My grandfather met my grandmother in SE Oklahoma, married and began a family. For some reason, he moved his family to Sunflower County, Miss. There is a large Boyer group there; they are the direct descendents of settlers who come to the unsettled Mississippi Delta via Port Gibson, MS, from Pennsylvania. Most of my Boyer relatives are now scattered in Oklahoma but there are some in Texas still. Actually, if I run into someone who has a Boyer in their line, we're related. If my grandfather had his way, he would have played professional baseball. He and his brother Tull made an oath to never marry. My grandfater, of course, didn't keep the oath but Tullus did.
