  • Cansler Family Tree (2784 KB)
The Canslers' are a Southern family of German origin. The first Cansler immigrants, arriving in Philadelphia in 1749, spelled their name Gentzler. It was pronounced Cansler, however, and later generations, at least those in the South, would spell it that way. Philip W. Gentzler brought his family from Pennsylvania to the Piedmont area of North Carolina in the fall of 1769. This file traces the lives of Philip and his wife Uly, their ten children, and their many generations of descendants.
