I am researching families on my Dad's side--the Schroeders and the Renks--both from Germany to Dubuque, IA. Earliest known ancestors are Gustav Schroeder, immigrating in 1857 from Prenzlau, Prussia, and George Renk, immigration date about 1891.
On my mother's side, the Jorgensens, Rasmussens, and Iversdatters--going back to early 1800's in Bergen, Norway.
