A Big Butterfield Family

Updated November 28, 2006

About Our Family Research

This Butterfield Family line started in New York with John Hugh Butterfield. He started to migrated to the West Coast in the early 1850's. He lived and worked in Oregon for several years Eventually he found himself in the Sacramento, California area.

Stories have been told by my Grandmother, Zeora Thomas Butterfield of a relationship between ourselfs and John Butterfield of the Butterfield Overland Stage Coach but this has yet to be proved or disproved. I am still trying to find the birth parents of John Hugh.

Fred (s/o William Wrenfrew Butterfield, s/o John Hugh Butterfield) and Zeora Thomas Butterfield were married in 1927 and settled of the Thomas Homestead in Hornitos, Mariposa County, CA. While Fred was a miner in local area mines he also farmed and worked at other odd jobs.
