Thomas Hart was 7 years old when he emigrated with his father from London, England to Hanover County, Virginia about 1690. He was an only son and his father died in Virginia.

Thomas Hart married Susanna Rice, Aunt of Presbyterian Rev. Daniel Rice who settled in Kentucky in 1781.

Thomas Hart and Susanna Rice Hart had six children:
Thomas, John, Benjamin, David, Nathaniel, and Ann.

After Thomas Hart died in Hanover County, Virginia about 1755, Susanna and children migrated to Orange County, N.C. about 1760.
