Introducing Ronald J. Rollins as owner of this Home Page.
Just in case there is someone in the area who doesn't know Ron and the History of Whitesville, Georgia.
By Sandra Waldrop Doolittle
Whitesville, Georgia and it's Harris County that surronds the very land where Whitesville lays like as small sleeping county area enbracing it's friends, neighbors and relatives.
An area where friends are family. An area where a friend like Tommy can get his truck bogged down in a creek and call another friend like Ron to come and help him . When he makes the call on the other end of the telephone line is a friend saying , before he walks out the door to help a neighbor , "Where are you", Tommy replies, with a laugh and tells Ron, "I don't know.". With that Ron asks, What are the surroundings around you what do they look like?" with this Tommy being a former City boy, tells Ron what he sees. Ron answers, "okay, I know where you are" and within a few mins, Ron is driving down a dirt towards Tommy to help him pull his truck out of the creek that runs between their land.
Just a few weeks before, Tommy was on his way to work. early on a cold morning he's driving up the road near Pine Lake to see Ron walking back from his truck that had broken down and Ton was headed toward his house. Tommy pulls over and gives Ron a ride back to his house to pick up the other truck and both men goes on their way while the new day day is just breakling thru. In the early morning a new day begans, neighbors have already started helping each other.
Yesterday, while standing on the upstairs deck I watch one of the Beagle's grandson helping Ron with his Truck another grandson drove up and Ron starts working on his jeep then Tommy to add to the friends in the yard drives up to keep the other three company, not to mention Shadbolt had already rode by on his golf cart to check out Ron's house while Ron was out of town.
Neighbors are going in and out Ron's long driveway across from Pine Lake either to visit , drop off fresh tomatoes as Betty Beagle does, or Dottie picking up or droping a key she has borrowed or Gary the Rookie making his weekly visits with Ron or Cason droping off a Christmas Rum cake.
Whitesville, Georgia ( STARTING IN 1831)is what is left of a good size town that History tells you was once large and active with Churches, Saloons, Stores, Schools and many happy memories. What is left now is a small area with a bunch of friends , neighbors and families that are aware of each other's needs.
Whiteville, Georgia Harris County has memories to share and the person who is willing an able to share the History of Whitesville is Ronald J. Rollins a member of the close knit family that lives and depends on each other.
I hope everyone enjoys the stories and History of Whitesville as told to me by Ron Rollin, as much as I have.
I look forward the the sharings in the further from Ron.
Another who speaks highly of Ron is my daughter Jan Doolittle Page who owns, "Gone and Almost Forgotten Georgia", a Website that includes Whitesville and Harris County. Ron has played a part in her site by point out sites that were in front of our eyes yet we couldn't see without him pointing then out to us. Ron sees beyond what the naked eye can see.
This is only the beginning, Ron will be adding more as time goes along.
