The Rollo family of Illinois

Updated February 25, 2004

About Our Family Research

The James Davidson Rollo family were immigrants from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, settling in Marseilles, LaSalle County, IL, between 1865 and 1867. My great-grandfather was a blacksmith by trade as was my grandfather Raymond Valentine Rollo, the 9th of 10 children born to James and Jane (Harper) Rollo. In the early 1900's my grandfather co-owned and operated a General Motors Dealership in Prophetstown, IL, selling Cheverolet and Oldsmobile products. My grandfather eventually became sole owner, and prior to his death in 1960, the business was passed on to my father, Forrest Vernon Rollo. The last surviving child of Raymond and Isaphine (Howlett) Rollo was Jessie (Rollo) Peterson Kopriva. She died December 25, 2003, at the age of 101. The grandchildren of Raymond Rollo, and their families, are now located in Illinois, Arizona and Texas.
