About Our Family Research

Welcome to our family home page : 'The Ronayne's
(Ronan's) Home Web Page'. The Ronayne's (my father's
family) are all from Ardfinnan, County Tipperary,
Ireland. My father (Mr John (Jack) Ronan) is also, a
'Ronayne' (originally !) However, his name was changed to
'Ronan' when he came over from Ireland, to England in
the mid to late 1940's (I believe ?). It's a long story, and I
hope to explain, more later, but his name was mistakenly,
put down, as 'Ronan' when he arrived in England (we
believe ?) Possibly, by official(s) (Customs people) at the port / ferry terminal, at the time. He then just decided to leave as it was, and it just stuck, if you like !
I think, he just thought, it was to much hassle etc... to go about changing documents etc...again.

All my father's brother's and sister's all had the name 'Ronayne' and of course when they married and had children etc.. They all had the surname 'Ronayne'. So as a young child /
teenager, I found this a little strange ? I was a 'Ronan'
and they where 'Ronayne's' !

We'll explain more (in detail)later. Stay with us, for the stories and the journey !

In the meantime, anyone reading this site (with interest), in the Ronayne family. If you think we might be related, in someway, then I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to email me, and we'll see where we can go from there !
