About Our Family Research
The research that resulted in this page is ongoing. It is the result of input from many sources. The seed was planted by Howard G. Roshon, deceased, of Baltimore, Ohio. He contacted me in 1979 to determine if we were related. I caught the genealogy bug at that time and have been fortunate to receive many contributions from family members that I didn't even know existed. The work of Howard was very well researched, but in some instances it had to be modified or corrected. He anticipated this and encouraged that it be done. I only wish that he could see the tree now, as it has incorporated a number of branches which he was reluctant to include because at the time there were no verifiable connections. This has changed and we continue to grow. Those who happen on this site are welcome to visit http://www.roshong.org. I welcome any and all leads to more family data. ROSHON-ROSHONG-ROCHON-RO(U)CHON The origins of most individuals in the United States with the names indicated are descended from three brothers that emmigrated from Germany via, Italy and France in 1753 and 1754. They were Henri Rochon, Pierre and Phillipe Rouchon. The name was spelled with many variations, even within the same family. Variations are: Roshong, Roshon, Rushong, Rushon, Rouchon, Rouchong, Roshang, Roshaw and more. The names Rochon/Rouchon are also found in Canada & France. It is speculative that the United States line is ,in some way, tied to the Canadian Branch, however the link has not yet been found. I think that there is a missing son some where in the Canadian family that would tie into the branch researched by me .
Pierre Rochon and Sarah Malan as parents of Jean Rochon, head of the "R" Familes in this research is purely SPECULATIVE at this point in time and has yet to be confirmed. It is highly presumptive, but also highly probable according to John J. Amstfield. This family line is indicated as follows:
"DESCENDANTS OF JEAN ROCHON & SARAH MALON Generation No. 1 1. Pierre1 Rochon was born Abt. 1628 in Torre Pellice, Torino, Piedmonte, Italia, and died Abt. 1718. He married Sarah Malan Abt. 1652 in Torre Pellice, Torino, Piedmonte, Italia. Notes for Pierre Rochon: It is entirely possible, perhaps even likely, that Jean Rochon (born abt. 1660) who emigrated to Pinache, Germany, was the son of Pierre and Susan (Malan) Rochon born and living in the same general region with a line of descent in Piedmont that likely exists to the present day. I have no evidence to prove a connection, but I believe there is a connection either directly or indirectly. (John J.
