The Nathaniel Spear of West Brookfield, MA 1824

Nathaniel Spear and Sarah (Arnold) Spear lived in West Brookfield, MA. Nathaniel was a carraige painter there. They both died during 1824 first Nathaniel in March followed by Sarah in July. They left behind 5 younng children: Nathaniel - birth SEP 03, 1814, Sarah - Christened JUL 28, 1816, William Arnold - MAR 26, 1817, Daniel Chamberlain - birth FEB 1820 and John Spear - birth OCT 31, 1822. The eldest son Nathaniel from the age of sixteen served an apprenticeship of 5 years to the taylor's trade, at the expiration of which time he commenced a course of study, and at the age of twenty-four was prepared for college. But on account of the failure of his health, he abandoned his purpose of gaining a liberal education. He removed into Western New York, where he was largely instrumental in establishing a new church. After a time he was called to labor in the employ of the Bible Society, and at length under the auspices of the American Tract and Bible Societies in conjunction, he was engaged for six years in presenting the cause of these Societies among the churches of northern-eastern PA, the Presbytery of Northumberland, PA (O.S.,) ordained him paster of three churches within the bounds of that Presbytery and under the care of the Domestic Missionary Society. These churches are at Rohrsburg, Sugar Loaf and Orageville, the latter being his residence. According to census records he married Rachael M(Matilda R) of NJ - birth 1812. They had a daughter Sarah C - birth 1852 NY. Sarah stayed in MA. Next William was married to Orrilla who died 1841 in West Brookfield, MA. Later we find him married to Lucy C Barnes on Bakersfield, VT birth 1823. Their children male (Henry A) Feb 1854, Nellie R 1859 both born in West Brookfield, and Freddie 1862 Warren, MA. Also in their household Albert C Spear 1844, Brandon VT (son, nephew ????) Next Daniel C, a veternan of the Civil War serving in Company I, married to Louisa Hartshorn Spear and lived in West Brookfield and Ware, MA and Wisconsin. They had seven ?? children: , Sarah L 1844, Mary J 1846, Edwin (William E) 1848, Harlow (Harlam M) 1850, Arthur M 1852, Abbey (Althera) 1853, Lucy C 1858, and Lizzie L 1861. Finally, John who was taken to Boston after his mother died and later is found living with his sister Sarah and Roby 1819 (wife ???) in Ware, MA
William's son Henry A Spear moves to Newton, MA and marries Hattie E Blood, daugther of Almond Blood 1895. They have one son William Addison Spear - birth 1897, Newton, MA. They move to Bellingham, MA. William marries Carrie M Scamman of Milford, MA and they have 6 children: William A, Jr SEP 21, 1930, Edward (dies at 2), Charles, David, Eleanor and Marjorie. William A, Jr marries Marlene L Sanborn - JUL 26, 1938 and they have 4 children: Darlene L, William A, III, David K, Bruce A.
