A story has been passed down through the generations that we are descended from The Baal Shem Tov. His grandson was Rabbi Boruch of Mezhbizh (1753-1811) who apparantly had a cousin, my Great Great Great Grandmother, Perel Laufer (1785-1845?). Reb Boruch set her up with my Great Great Great Grandfather by saying, "have I got a perel (pearl) for you!"
Who knows if it's true or not.
Anyway, my grandparents, Isidore Harry Rosner and Esther Marcovici Rosner, immigrated to the U.S. in the 1920's. They settled in Philadelphia, then moved to Los Angeles in the 1940s. They ran a deli-market in both cities.
