The Steele Family of MI and NC
Updated April 13, 2009
| About Our Family Research |
|
We have only recently begun this research. After our mother passed away we decided to make scrapbooks of both my father and mother back to their great grandparents. At that point I realized that researching more information would be interesting. So far, we have mostly used Ancestry.com and One World Tree, finding birth and death certificates, census information, and information from other research in One World Tree.
Since it is for my nephews and nieces this is also being done, I have also put time into researching my sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws families. On some lines I have been able to go back many generation. On other lines, like that of my maternal grandmother I haven't been able to get too far as I seem to run into a brick wall on information from before they immigrated from Canada and Ireland. (Looking for info on Baker in Canada and Duffy in Ireland).
We have a few individuals we cannot find any (or much) background on, a few being Ida Bettis, Belle Bourdeaux, and Elias Baker, Sr., and Flora May Switzer (possibly Sweetser). We are also looking to find any corroborating information on the ones we do have: Rosenstiel, Gardner, Drouillard, and Bordeaux (Bordeau, Burdo).
