My uncle, Nicholas Rossi, 1903 to 1998, began the odyssey of tracing the Rossi Family History in 1979. At the time, he was the oldest living member of four children born to Gaetano Rossi -1874 to 1954 - and Maria Giuseppe Merletti. Gaetano was born in the city of Tollo, Chieti province and was one of eight children born to Pasquale Rossi and Antoinette Marino.
Gaetano emigrated to Quebec, Canada in 1903 travelling on the steamer Cita de Milan of the La Veloce Line which arrived in New York on the 17th of April, 1903. Gaetano did not bring his wife and two sons - Pasqaule and Nicholas - with him to Canada. They came to Canada sometime in 1909.
I have much more that I could add to this opening comment, suffice it to say that I hope to hear from interested family relations in my quest to search out my ancestors.
We held a Rossi family reunion on July 20, 2002 in Brantford, Ontario with some 143 relatives attending from as far away as Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Virginia in the U.S.
