About Our Family Research

My family left Hungary in November of 1956 during the Revolution.
I was almost 5 years old, and remember very little of my relatives. We went to Toronto, Canada. From there we went to Richmond, Virginia and from there we went to Hamburg, Germany. I got married and went to Long Island, New York, to Budapest, Hungary for about 3 years, and am currently in Lexington, Kentucky. I have a brother, Zoltan, who still lives in Canada. Both of my parents Edith (Kollar) and Josef (Laszlo) passed away - February 1971, and November 1989, respectively.

In the summer of 1970 we did go back to Hungary and saw my aunts and cousins on my mothers side, as well as my paternal grandmother. But my aunts, who would remember me, are all in their 90s and 100s if they are still alive! Females change their names and are next to impossible to find.

Since all the remaining family, as far as I know, is still in Hungary, I have not been able to get any information on family members. Although I went back to Hungary and returned to the States a couple of years ago, I was unable to find any of my family, since in Hungary when women marry they take on the first name as well as the last name of the husband.

In any case I would really like any information anyone can offer regarding the Kollar/Laszlo family. Once I am able to accumulate more information I will add names. I have just started searching for family members, so I have very little news.
