| Alexander came from Islay, Scotland around 1833. Along with him, his father and possibly two brothers immigrated to Canada and were part of the pioneer settlers who had settled in, what is now known as,Duntroon. Alexander, about 1834, purchased 100 acres on lot 23, concession 4, East Nottawasaga Township, Simcoe County, Stayner, Ontario. Piper, as Alexander was known by in Stayner, married Flora Adair in 1842. They had 9 children. Christina b:1847, John b:1849, Archibald b:1851, Alexander b:1852, Hugh b:1855, Angus b:1856, Elizabeth b:1859, Mary b:1860, Robert b:1863, Ann b:1868. Flora (Florence) nee:Adair was born about 1823, Kilmeny, Isle of Islay, Scotland. Daughter of John Adair and Elizabeth. Flora had brothers and sisters of which I have yet to touch on. |
