The Ruanes of which I am a part are from Glenree and vicinity. The parts of the family that I have now begin with Michael Ruane born about 1820. Wife's name is unknown. They had 5 children so far as I know: Patrick who went to Chicago, never married, and was lost track of after the Chicago fire; John of Glenree, Carronagloch Twp, wife's name Mary Durkin, they had 12 children named Thomas, Michael, Patrick, Margaret, the rest unknown; Thomas married Catherine Loftus and they had 13 children (Michael, James, Margaret, Mary, John, Winifred, Peter, Harry, Martin, Celia, Thomas, Harry, and Kevin ((I have info on Michael, James, Margaret, Peter, and Thomas)); Michael b. about 1845, d. 1881, married Cecilia Conmy about 1870; a daughter Bridget Ruane who married John McKenzie; another daughter (name unk) who is supposed to be the mother of Annie Ruane Gilette. In Immaculate Conception RC Church in Bonniconlon there are many Ruane names on windows and on the pews. Some of them are "William, Brigid, and Sarah Ruane erected by their brother Denis Ruane", "Michael & Catherine McKenzie, Carracrum", "Michael Ruane, Carralavin", "In Loving memory of Thomas & Ellen Ruane, Bonniconlon", "Martin, Kathleen & Mary Ruane, Carrareagh", Grave Markers: "Ruane - Knockroe Mary Ellen d. 30 Aug 1946, Peter d. 9 Nov 1979", "In Loving memory of Martin Ruane, Ellaghmore d. 1937, His wife Bridget d. 1948, their son Denis d. 1929".
