I started genealogy research with Lucinda Jane WOODRUM (1867), my maternal grandmother; the WOODRUM line: John Lawrence (1841), William Jackson (1822), Archibald (1797) , William II (1759), William (1728), John (1702...
Then began working on Lucinda's husband, my maternal grandfather, John Henry SHAW (1858). SHAW line: John Newton (1817), Robert Franklin (1782), James (1757).
John Henry Shaw's mother was Mary Elizabeth REILEY (1822), and the REILEY line: Smith (1797), John (1750)...
I started working on my paternal grandfather, Charles Augustus RUDE (1877), his father: LYMAN F. RUDE is my "brick wall", he married my paternal great-grandmother, Alice Leora TUCKER (1857) in Coles Co., IL. in 1877 and was last seen in Bloomington, McClean Co., IL. in the 1880 Fed. Census. Lyman died March 23, 1882 according to my great-grandmother's obituary, but I have not found where he died and where he was buried. Alice moved to Greenup, IL. and remarried on March 15, 1883 to Henry C. BOSWORTH. Mr. Bosworth died in 1892 and Alice moved back to her hometown of Charleston, IL. later moving to Decatur, IL. where she met Levi Hiser--they married Nov. 20,1905. Mr. Hiser died in 1815. Alice moved to Mattoon, IL. and died there March 22, 1942, and is buried at Mound Cemetery, Charleston, IL.
I only recently started on Grace Maude WILLIAMS (1880)-- my paternal grandmother's family--her father: William A. WILLIAMS (1853), and her mother: Fannie Hynes (1859). Fannie died when Grace was only 9 yrs. old. They were living in Decatur, IL., and Fannie is buried at Greenwood Cemetery. Grace's father remarried and had two daughters, but to date I have not found who he married and/or the names of the two daughters.
Most of the information has been researched......much of the information has been donated by others, and I do appreciate the assistance and plan to make a separate page for listing them.
PLEASE NOTE; THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND I APPRECIATE ANY ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS. Thank you. JoAn (Rude) Graham
