My mother - Rathel Nell Tonsend was born 6-15-29 in Lubbock, TX and my father - Arthur William Henderson, Jr was born in Los Angeles, CA and died 3-15-84. He served in the Korean War. Later, he received his degree at the Univ. of Oregon and became a scientist in the field of Metelurgy. His Sister's name is Carol (Henderson) Schroeder and my father's mother's last name was Butler. She died a young woman from TB. My maternal grandfather's name was Arthur William, Sr - he died in Colorado. That's all I kow about him. My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Jo Vera Daniels and my maternal grandfather's name was Madison Townsend. He wrote in the local newpaper looking for a wife to help him take care of his children because he was widowed. He picked Jo based on the letter he wrote her - I don't have the letter and I don't know what it contained. I must have been convincing for him to pick her out of so many women that had written him. Her history holds info on record of owning slaves (approx. 200) Madison was 1/8 Comanche and was born in Oklahoma. His first wife died - I don't know of what. They had 6 children together. He was a Nazerene preacher in the Fence Lake, NM area. Jo and Madison (nick name was Major) has another 6 children including my mother.
I hope to learn more about both sides, especially my father's because my father died in 1984 and my aunt (my father's sister is in her 80's). I would like some help in finding more about my family before it's too late. Please e-mail me, okay?
