With a few other family members, I have been researching our family history in little bursts of enthusiasm for about 5 years or so. So far I have been able to 'introduce' my grandson to 4 of his 9 x great grandparents - so just 4092 to go..........! It has bought us a lot of pleasure, finding out about new members of the family, and travelling just a few miles over 350 years of history. I was born in the parish of Upper Clatford, Hampshire, England. My 7 x great grandparents lived, moved and had their beings in the 1650s just 15 or so miles away in places such as Woodford and Durnford just north of Salisbury, and at Hampstead Norris and Oare near Newbury. Another 'possible' from 1214, was being a witness at an Escheators Court in Westdown, nr Tilshead on Salisbury Plain, maybe 20 miles away! On the other hand I have been made aware of living Rumbolds in Australia, Argentina, the US, Hungary, Canada and New Zealand to name but a few! I would like to add a big 'thank you' to all those who through the effort of building and maintaining websites, often for free, have allowed me and countless others the fascination of finding our own personal history.
