Walter & Edie Russell were living in the Smethwick area at the outbreak of W.W.1 and moved to Stirchley in the 1930,s.
They had 7 children. Fred, Mabel, Ethel, Jean, Doreen, Ena (Peggy) and Jack. I am the first child of Peggy Russell. My great grandmother's name was Round. My grandmother (Edie Russell) had a sister Annie who emigrated to Ohio in the U.S.A and there are many relatives on this side of the family still alive (somewhere). Don & Edna last came to England in 1989 for a family re-union in Redditch. Only my mother and Jack are still alive, all the others having passed away in recent years.
Fred had 2 children, Judith & John. Mabel married Arthur Davidson and had 3 children, Alan, Tony, & Mavis who died of cancer. Ethel married Frank Fear and had 4 children. David, Michael(deceased) Graham, & Pauline. Jean married Bert Kelsall & had 3 children, Peter, Paul, & Brian. Doreen married Don Peplow & had 1 child, Stephen. Ena(Peggy) gave birth to me out of wedlock hence my surname at birth was Russell, my father's name was Wilf Batten. She then married Cyril(Bill) Ray but he was a casualty of the 2nd W.W She then re-married to Harry Hyett and had Malcolm, Pat, & Carol. Jack has 2 children, Susan & Janice.
