Updated December 27, 2002
| About Our Family Research |
|
The Russell family is a proud African-American family trying to reconstruct its ancestor's path through the days of slavery and beyond. Our research thus far shows possible links to the family of Jefferson Davis of Fairview, KY, President of the Confederacy. We are very interested in the ~14 children of George Russell and Winnie Christian circa 1840-1860. Family members farmed southwestern Kentucky after slavery. Some migrated to Pennslyvania in the early 1900's to work the steel mills. Today, family members reside half way around the world. Family surnames include JACKSON, TOLIVER, TOLLIVER and BURRUS. Contact me if you think you may be related to this blessed family.
FAMILY REUNIONS The Russell family holds a family reunion every 2 years. The next reunion will be in St.Louis, MO, July or August, 2004.
