The Daniel G. Russell Family of Chattanooga, TN

Updated March 2, 2001

About Our Family Research

Actively searching for ancestors of Daniel G. Russell, Guy Russell Sr., and Guy Russell Jr.

Have located the family of Madge (Russell) Ramsey, half-sister of Guy Russell Jr. They are both children of Guy Russell Sr.

Guy Russell Sr. was born in Alberton, Howard Co., Maryland on January 20, 1883, and is the son of Theodore H. C. Russell, and Ann Elsrode also of Alberton, MD. They were married on January 29, 1874. Guy Sr. served in the U.S. Army from December 21, 1901 until 1920 or 21. He reached the rank of Sgt., and is said to have performed excellent and honarable service. He is also known to have served during, and after, WWI as a 1st Lt. in the 30th Division (Old Hickory Division), 114th Machine-gun Battalion. We have a book on the 114th Machine Gun Battalion. Guy Sr. is picuterd and spoken of in this book. He is buried at site U71 at the Chattanooga National Military Cemetery.

I am still looking for members of the family of Guy Russell Sr. He is known to have had a brother (Sterling), and a sister (Ginny/Jenny). Any information on this branch of the Russell family will be greatly appreciated.

Becky Guthrie, of Cleveland, TN is also looking for information. She is the grand-daughter of Guy Russell Sr., niece of Guy Russell Jr., and my cousin. We have found each other after fifty years without contact between my father, Guy Jr., and Becky's mother, Madge (Russell) Ramsey. This occured on January 14, 2001, and was a very joyous occasion.

Anyone having information is welcome to contact me at my email address.
