My name is Lydia Ruston (nee Gardiner). I am currently researching my family history. Father, Alexander Gardiner was born in Cullen, Banffshire Scotland in 1903,immigrated to Canada in 1927 and died in Amherstburg, Ontario in 1978. Mother, Loretta Vigneux, was born in Essex County, Ontario in 1913, and died in 1981. Alexander had brothers, Cecil, John, Philip, Peter, William, George and a sister Lydia Gardiner. Eugene (Billy) also immigrated to Canada , but then returned to Scotland in the 1960's. Grandfather William Gardiner was married to Maggie H. Coull in Scotland. William was born in 1878 in Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland. Maggie died about 1962 in Cullen. Grandfather William was reportedly a ship builder who also served in the military and was decorated.
Mother Loretta Vigneux had a brother Lawrence, and sisters May and Bella. Born and raised in Anderdon Twp., Essex County, Ontario. Grandfather Albert Vigneux married Mary Gignac and had numerous brothers/sisters. Some of which were Stella, Bertha, Sam, Leo. We have now been successful in linking the Vigneux side of the family to Denissen (French families of the Detroit River region), thus linking the Vigneux tree to descendants of Francois Vignault, France. We are still very interested in any additions, corrections, insights concerning the Vigneux family. Also the Mary Gignac family, daughter of Thomas Gignac and Zoe Meloche also of Anderdon Twp., Essex County, Ontario.
