My father was James Melton Russ and mother Dorthey L Russ divorsed when I was around 3 years old. I never saw much of him after that. My Mothers maiden name was Dorthey L. Lindsey. At the time we lived in Haskell, Texas. Seems like I remember my mother telling me that he was born in Lake Charles, LA. But, I'm not a 100% sure about this. My father did serve in the military, i faintly remember my mother telling me that he was a vet. He died in 1980. Although i knew very little about him, the V.A. in Big Spring, TX contacted me 1978 and had me place him in a nursing home in Stamford, Tx.
What Im trying to do is find out something about where he really came from and some of our family tree.
I have one younger brother Bobbie Lee Russ, and we now Live in Abilene, Texas. Other than this we know nothing of our fathers history. Please contact me if anyone is close on this.
